Using Your Scanner
If you own a scanner, use it to scan those items that you just can't put into a photograph. For example, scan CD covers. Scan newspaper articles. Scan children's class work and art work. You can scan these items onto acid free paper, or you can save them put them onto photo paper, cropping them to the size you want to attach in your scrapbook.

Scrapbook Kits
Scrapbook kits are becoming more and more popular with the manufactures creating their kits around a thems, such as a birthday kit, or a wedding kit, or a girl kit, or a boy kit.

Kits can save you both time and money as they contain everything you need to create awesome pages. You'll find cardstock, patterned paper, embellishment and stickers inside scrapbook kits.

Save the materials left from the kit to mitch and match with your other supplies.

Sorting Your Scrapbook Paper
There are many ways to sort paper. However one of the most unique ideas I've seen is to buy an over the door shoe hanger. Use each compartment for different colors of paper. Next time you need scraps in a certain color, they will be hanging right over the door.

Holiday Scrapbooks
When you create a scrapbook for a holiday, make sure to include the recipes your family uses. We all have a favorite potato salad recipe handed down from generation to generation. Or we all have a favorite dessert recipe that we make for every gathering. Include these in your holiday scrapbook.

Creating Borders on Your Scrapbook Pages

You can use strips of paper to create borders on scrapbook pages. Simply cut strips of paper the exact length and width of your paper and attach. The effect makes the page look like it’s framed, and all you’ve done is use some of your scrap paper. Be careful to use either solid colors or patterns that can look the same vertical and horizontal.

You can also create a mid page line using the same technique. Cut a piece of paper the width or length of the paper and attach halfway. It’s a great way to divide your page in half. You can attach photos over the line, however the effect remains.

Happy Scrapping,

Using 6x6 Scrapbook Albums
Mini albums are wonderful for those times you want a "complete" scrapbook but don't have enough photos for a larger album.

Use mini albums for quick gifts to grandma and grandpa.
Use mini albums for short day trips that produce only a dozen photos.
Use mini albums to help your kids store all of their friends school photos.
Use mini albums to create a recipe scrapbook.

These are just a few uses for mini albums. If you have other ideas for mini albums, share them in the comments section.

Creating Scrapbooks in 30 Minute Increments

For those with limited time, try carving out just 30 minutes at a time. Use those 30 minutes for just one "task":

Sort through photos
Mount photos
Embellish pages
Journal

If you try to think just 30 minutes instead of a completed scrapbook you'll be amazed at what you can accomplish in just 30 minutes at a time.

Dates of Events on Scrapbook Photos
When you take photos jot down the dates either in a notebook or on the back of the photos when you get them back from processing. If you are taking digital photos, store them in a folder that is date marked. Then when it's time to put together your scrapbook you'll know exactly when you took the photos.
